the ways that creative writing can teach, amplify and beautify experience,
and turn tragedy and trauma into renewal. She says, “The personal
and particular nature of stories, the myths, the motifs, the lyricism,
dreams, surprises, fragments, dialogue, characters, atmosphere,
tone, the symbols, the menace, the joy, the sadness, the sheer physical,
magical and emotional experience of stories confer meaning on lived
